Ciderday 2017

We will be hosting our annual Ciderday event on Saturday November 4th

 

We will be bringing in up to 8 tons of apples from the mountains of North Carolina, that we will crush and press for your consideration. Our selection of apple varieties will consist of a blend that will yield some very good ciders, no matter how you want to make them. Last years first blend was Staymans, Golden Delicious, Red Rome and Fuji creating a nice but light cider blend. Our second blend last year was Red Romes, Goldrush, Suncrisp and Cameo and it was by far the better of the 2 blends for making a hard cider or simply enjoyable as freshly pressed juice.

We will bring in over 8 tons of apples that will need to be culled, crushed and pressed. We will start crushing about 8am on Saturday. We have added an additional crusher which should speed up the entire process. We are also adding a conveyor system for moving containers through the line so you can mingle and enjoy the event.

You canpre-order the juice and save money. We will have additional cider available after the event.

You may also consider pre-ordering White Labs cider yeast or Wyeast Labs Cider yeast because we keep a representative quantity on hand to keep it fresh.

Conditions have been very favorable this year and the harvest has been bountiful so we have been able to bring our price down to $5 per gallon with the 15% savings for pre-ordering before November 12th. Prices do not include containers. Gallon jugs and pails will be available for purchase so bring your own and save. FREE ADDITIVES will be available with the purchase of juice on Ciderday.

If you are ordering juice for the first time, it is best to plan on making either 6 gallons in order to end up with a full 5 gallon carboy or 4 gallons to end up with a full 3 gallon batch. Apples and apple juice tend to oxidize quickly, illustrated by a browning of the fruit or browning of the juice; therefore, maintaining FULL carboys in the final stage are highly recommended.

Alternative Beverage has contracted Hardin Hill Bar-B-Q to supply barbeque chicken and Boston butts for this event. You can even pre-order barbeque to take home. Please bring some side dishes so that the meat will go further.

Cider will be available at the event for $5.75 per gallon with your container, slightly higher with our packaging.
