So named because of its popularity in the Russian Czarist empire, few beers have a more potent flavor and alcohol level. Our Imperial Stout requires a lengthy aging time, and patience is rewarded by remarkable smoothness; however, if sampled early, its alcohol strength is warming and sharp. It is a medium dry style and is aggressively hopped to maintain a balance with the high malt content, yielding a very malty beer when properly aged - 9 months to 1 year. Black patent malt provides a pronounced roasted or charcoal flavor and smoky aromatics. English hops lend further complexity to the palate.
