St. Alan's Wee Heavy Scotch Ale is a creamy, very chewy, slightly smoky example of a Strong Scotch Ale. A wee tad less hoppy than our Scottish Export (while considerably maltier), it is similar in flavor to its English cousins, the Bitter family. The addition of peated malt enhances the smoky character of this "session beer."

I made this recipe for a friend of mine at work, who is of Scottish descent, and doesn't like hoppy ales. Word got out and 4 co-workers tried it. They LOVE it! They want another batch brewed ASAP and are threatening to hold my bottles as ransom until I consent to make some more. That tells you something, doesn't it?
