Many centuries of painstaking effort and German engineering have created the perfect brew for Autumn. A German Oktoberfest, with its enticing deep copper appearance, fits the profile admirably. This beer will be mildly hopped. It has a rich, robust complexity that cannot be bought, except in Munich at the end of September and beginning of October. By the time the vast majority of the imported Oktoberfest styles reach the U.S., they have lost freshness in the journey. A home brewer can recreate it precisely with this recipe, and drink it fresh; probably too fresh depending on his/her excitement. This beer has a solid carbonation level and thick, creamy head retention. As expected with noble hop varieties the nose will be somewhat flowery.
