Cider Saturday 2024

Ciderday

We will be hosting our annual Ciderday event on the first Saturday in November,  Saturday November 4th

We will be bringing in a blend of apples from Davis & Sons Orchard near Lincolnton North Carolina. We will determining the blend from varieties such as Fuji, Gala, Golden Delicious, Red Rome, Red Delicious and Granny Smith. We will announce the final blend next week.  You can be assured it will be a delicious blend for making a hard cider or simply enjoyable as freshly pressed juice.

We will bring in between 6-8 bins of apples that will need to be crushed and pressed. We will start crushing about 8:30am on that Saturday. We will be utilizing our 2-ton crusher and our tow (2) 120 liter bladder presses which should make the process go pretty fast.

You will be able to pre-order the juice starting in early October and save money. The juice at the 2023 event was $7 a gallon on the day of the event.

Conditions have been more favorable this year than last year but there is a lot of demand for apples because of the growing popularity of commercial ciders.  Bring your own containers for transport and save money.   Gallon jugs and pails will be available for purchase so .

We'll have a sanitizing station set-up.

FREE ADDITIVES will be available with the purchase of juice on Ciderday.

If you are ordering juice for the first time, it is best to plan on making either 6 gallons in order to end up with a full 5 gallon carboy or 4 gallons to end up with a full 3 gallon batch. Apples and apple juice tend to oxidize quickly, illustrated by a browning of the fruit or browning of the juice; therefore, maintaining FULL carboys in the final stage are highly recommended.

We will start dispensing of the cider around 10:30.
If you arrive early, you can help with the culling, filling pails with apples.
