Big Brew 2024

Since 1988, the US Congress has recognized the first Saturday in May as National Homebrew Day. The American Homebrewers Association (AHA) created AHA Big Brew as an annual event to celebrate National Homebrew Day around the world. This years national sponsors of this event are Lallemand Brewing and Rahr Malting Company. Alternative Beverage has been hosting this event in the Charlotte since it's inception. This is our 14th event being hosted in the park on the river at our Belmont location. The Carolina Brewmasters have always played an integral park of the success of this event as I’m sure they will this year. This event is open to all clubs, home brewers, and beer enthusiasts.

The big feature of the this event is the communal brew-in and our goal is to improve on the numbers of brewers participating from last year. By pre-registering for this event, home brewers will be able to purchase ingredients at a discounted rates and they will receive a gift card for participates in the communal brew-in.

Participants are encouraged to bring their kettles, cookers, propane and their favorite brewing necessities to our Belmont warehouse to brew their batch of beer. We will have limited electrical hooks up, so register early for that.

With Star Wars being the focus of this years event, we have 5 new Star Wars recipes for your consideration.

This event is open to anyone that brews, that enjoys good beer, wants to learn how to brew, wants to see different brewing techniques, wants to meet local homebrewers and talk beer and you don't have to brew to participate. The weather is almost always nice by the lake in the spring.
